Principal and Interest Vol.2

Alright folks, welcome back to the second iteration of Principal and Interest. A lot has happened since I last wrote in both real estate and in my own personal world.

Principal

Rate cuts! Seemingly everyone is tuned in on rate cuts and what the BoC has done and will seemingly continue to do, lower rates. This comes off the heels of a 50-basis point cut announced Oct 23rd. People have never been more in tune with rates than they are today, which I think can be attributed to a few different things; Buyers have never been more knowledgeable, tons of information at their fingertips, and access to data not previously available. This is a very good thing.  Coupling that with things like inflation, people are more conscious of what they can afford, as budgets are being followed closely.

Ultimately though, a decision to buy should be something you are completely comfortable with. You may like that rates are dropping and have an urge to jump in, but if it doesn’t line up financially/personally with the rest of your life, I always think it’s the best decision to wait. Being comfortable while making these types of purchases should be paramount.

Interest

Not a ton to report on the culinary front, thanksgiving leftovers are always the best. Makes it difficult to want to go out when you have all that food at home.

I don’t have any new courses to report on for golf unfortunately, as the season winds down and days get shorter it’s been difficult to get out.

But as golf season ends another begins, the Toronto Maple Leafs, or as their jerseys say, the Oreo Milky Leafs. It’s too early to make any big judgements on the state of the team and if this roster is potentially the one to get to the cup, but early signs point to….maybe? That’s not a no, just not a yes. They look better defensively, and with the shakeup of the lines providing some juice in the most recent game against an undefeated Jets team, I like the way they’re trending. I am in fact ready to be hurt again.
